Momentous Event

A set of plates on the table
remained untouched.
The food’s gone cold.
The candle wicks kept burning...
flickering  lights barely
illuminating the room.

The water filled the tub
as spigot’s turned.
When I looked up,
he’s there... staring at me.
He stroke my hair,
held my neck so gently...
T’was the touch
I was waiting for....
Time finally arrived
to this momentous event.
The time he showed his
‘love and affection’—
My death as I took my last breath.

He quickly rose,
sat at the table
and ate his supper.
(Unbeknown to him... it is spiced to my liking...)
He smoked his cigar;
laid  in his bed.
Closed his eyes
....to never open them again.

Hi Imrogue, this one sounds like an old Betty Davis movie, writers have such an imagination. How are you by the way ? miss you.

thanks for reading and commenting... I am doing great... been busy working and haven't written poems for a while....miss you guys in the site... I don't get to see new poems like in the old site... unless I pull up the latest... it does not pop like it used to be...?? btw I should watch the movie you are talking about... I love Betty Davies! and old movies.

I don't understand the story. Is it about two people commiting suicide? It reminds me of Romeo and Juliet. I enjoyed the story very much.

Robert, the man drowned the woman in the tub but unbeknown to him, the woman had prepared poisoned food (perfect spice) to kill him...

I really like this one :) very atmospheric; it's easy to create am image in mind of what you're describing, which is good! Well written!

Thanks for reading and commenting! I'm glad you like it! :-)

Was he a ghost? I hope I got it right. It was a well written poem.

No, it was not a ghost, Robert... Maybe I did not make myself clear in writing this one. Hmm...

Quite a scene! Can't wait for the sequel, two of them beyond the "threshold" again on a candle lit dinner date. Like.

Thanks for the like! I'm not sure if there will be a sequel.. hahaha. I'm giving you the challenge!
