Two Minutes

Two minutes, that’s an eternity!

My hands quiver at the steering wheel

While stopped at a red traffic light

Raring to fly in my automobile…

Wanting to leave the present behind

And the past that's been cruel and unreal!

But I know a bright future beckons

Waiting for me to unravel and reveal!

In most traffic intersections, two minutes is the length of time that the red light stays on. However, most people are so impatient; for them, the interval seems a lot longer. For some, an eternity. Two minutes is FOREVER.

This is the fifth in my series of poems about the past...

This is a very moving poem. I interpret it as "Can't wait to see what the future holds. I've been waiting long enough." Is that right?

I like this one, and I believe and agree that the future will be bright.
