I once believed that I would wed
A classmate dear, my future set
But life took turns, unknown ahead
And led to joys I won’t forget
Pleasant adventures filled my life
Away from the town I was born
In later years I met my wife
Who’s my bright sunshine every morn
We plan our lives with steadfast will
Yet fate may weave a different thread
Just stop and look—the world is still
And joy may find your path instead
Though life may stray from paths we chart,
True joy will find a willing heart
