Plumes of thick grey smoke rising
A few miles in the distance
Just our hopes and dreams burning
Our nation ne’er had a chance!
Sadly, thieves still rule the land
And they’ll plunder everything
With oligarchs in command
Then the poor left with nothing
No one to blame but ourselves
Our nation voted thieves in
We’re gullible silly elves
Sold our souls next to nuthin’
Indeed, voters have spoken
Chosen the dictator’s son
Our country’s future broken
Our hopes for tomorrow, gone!
Hibernate for six long years?
It’s a cowardly way out
Pray we don’t shed many tears
But kindness from thieves, I doubt
Six years, a long time to wait
Hope we’ve learned our lessons then
That we may regain our faith
And our hopes restored again

3yWell said brod. We are all sad and disappointed! But yes, let's keep our hope and faith alive.

3y@Francisco Potato Thank you Brod. Gotta keep a little hope

3yHeart wrenching depressing the past few days. “The fault my dear Brutus lies not in our stars but in ourselves.” Shakespeare. In six years all Philippines must have by then learned the lessons of running a democratic government like hell for generations. I hope. Like. Thanks Brod.

3y@Nelson D Reyes I ended this poem with a touch of hope! But I very much doubt that in six years Filipinos will have learned the lessons. After all, the electorate got worse after six years of Doucheterte. He got only 38% of the vote, Marcos got 52%. Filipinos are just plain dumb, there’s no sugar-coating that fact. We are an incorrigible hopeless people.

3yI have a very strong suspicion that election was rigged from the getgo and set up for Marcos to win at all cost and could have been worked on when he became a senator years ago. Nothing left to chance, everything in sync IT group, surveys, software/hardware/servers , the whole nine yards including COMELEC. He got the gold to make this happen. If that’s not what happened then the country is lost. @Francis

3yThe glimmer of hope I saw from this elections is the high level of enthusiasm the youth has shown, the big rallies, the grassroots house to house, etc. To no avail but the seed was planted and the young was involved. Yes hope is there. Only thing that’s left otherwise the country is doomed and will remain a failure for generations to come.

3y@Nelson D Reyes Brod I just posted a poem on the Vic blog. It’s kind of harsh and I know people will hate me for it. But some things need to be said

2moI hope Leni will give it another shot. There is a growing clamor for an alternative to the Marcoses and Dutertes. With the help of the progressive groups, I think she will pull it off.

2mo@Benjamin G. Sangalang: I think she pulled it off the last time. But the other side cheated. Thanks for liking
