Fall at last; daylight savings now over
Got an extra hour to linger in bed
But days seem shorter, evenings come sooner
Alerting us of cold weather ahead!
Now autumn leaves smother fields of clover
Summer days long gone; our goodbyes unsaid
Meekly we march to the jaws of winter
Unwillingly; dreaming of spring instead!
Snow comes soon, with heavy coats we’d shiver
Before then! We’d celebrate bounteous spread
A thanksgiving feast that will end never
Wistfully we can forestall winter dread!
