Dara Robinson

Home of the Chromosome

There’s treasure hid within my bones -
Far beneath the marrow
Before conception travelled far,
Precursor to the soul.

All around the castle built
Walls permeable but semi -
Within a courtyard medium
Lays there in the nuclei,
A cell by name yet not by bars
To hide me from corruption,
No moat but gate to penetrate
Unto my inner sanctuary.

Within the kernel organelle
The letter left its wrapping,
And spaces for the messengers
When expressionists come knocking.

An open chest revealing then
Pairs of gold entwinned,
For opening and reading is
The recipe of life.
