D. Fairbanks

Flowers, Bulls, and Sand

(for him)

The feeling of the road and the radio
with white stripes blurred to ease my mind
But it’s a roller coaster enough to make me dizzy
yet hold on still.
It’s a love song to make you think
A sunset that has no end.

To be sweet.
Still it’s a want to ride the bull at the rodeo.
As clear as the idea of sunflowers
blooming at night,
You’re an endless summer,
breakfast at midnight,
the smile I wear on my lips
and laugh in my heart.

Here’s to losing track of time
To knowing the protected feeling
holding your hand.
And the way fireworks go off
Standing on top of the world.
You’re my blue skies on cloudy days

and the faith to dance in the rain.
