We Begin at Daylight
We begin at daylight,
Breathe in fresh air,
Begin new hopes,
Free of all despair.
Passes by, the sun,
Till max height it holds,
And we look around,
And finally behold.
We walk steady,
Fight against the fuss,
Light still on our side,
But time all against us.
Final lighting begins,
As the shadows draw out,
We rage hectically on,
As our fears silent shout.
Nightfall creeps to our doors,
We cry out in vain,
Lose touch with what we love,
And wither in the pain.
But what happens after?
When the stars rest,
And the moon tells her story,
And the Earth silently confesses?
Do we know of the silence,
The emptiness that occurred?
Do we know of nothing,
If everything is always heard?
