The Sky

As I Have Come To Know Her

I recall not when I first beheld the Sanskrit Sky
Yet I remember being amazed at the sight of her expanse
The delightful way in which the clouds… With their spotless white veils
Did dance to hear her sing… Such glorious hymns and mantras

Below these heavenly declarations of refined speech… Wholly formed…
Her compassion flowed boundless… Limitless… To the eyes of this observer
I watched as she enveloped all that she surveyed… In her loving embrace…
As if seeking to bridge the gap… Between heaven and earth… For the one
Found in her care

Such is her way… That from time to time… Or as she sees it…
From horizon to horizon… For eras and ages are shaped by man… And
They are not understood in a heart such as hers
That knows only the tempos and rhythms of seasons

But I digress… And will settle for points…
Yes!… At certain points she will share a psalm
With some lonely traveler… Or wayward soul
And the occasional… Interested observer

With three such stories… I will endeavor to reveal… Lay bare… Her nature…
The symmetry of which… Only she can express… Nonetheless
What is recognized by her… Within each one… Is that from skyline to skyline
The prospect… Of her ever forgetting… Their proximity…
The short distance to her heart… Will forever remain… A non-existing vanishing point
Upon the vista… Of her life

One such prayer… That she did share… With a particular flower
Deeply rooted… In her life… The stem… Holding golden colored sun
Sacredly adorned… With elaborate petals
The Sky… Watched it… From the time of its birth… Continuously it turned
Seeking to absorb… Every ounce of her radiance

This flower… So unique… Who the Sky called Ghazal
Soaked up… Every touch… And caress
It quickly became the glory of the Sky
And they developed… Their own… Wordless speech

It did not happen at first… Yet to the Sky’s heart… It did
Whence three long years of waiting… At last!... Her voice was heard!!!
Through trumpeted ear… And upon the hearing such joy
Was theirs before and since… A sign… Of the Fathers love

A love that carried the Sky… Upon its back… To the next sacred song
To settle and mend… An orphaned heart… 18 years past due
Oh sweet day!... To be awakened by… Sweet lullaby
Upon musical strings… The Sky was strung… Not so much for playing
For that time… Was long since past… But instead awakened
To a new found life… Beyond what even she could comprehend

The wayward traveler… In search of something he had lost… Long ago
What it was… He could not say… Yet he knew it was needed
His whole life’s meaning… To be found… In her watchful attention
While brief … They shared… A tenderness of love… And care
That neither thought possible

She caressed… And nurtured him… Until he passed
From where even her eyes could see… The brightly lit bobbin
That so threaded her love… Tightly around his heart
What was said in that last embrace… Known only to her
And the wayward traveler

Thus it was at last… That she found herself… And this poem
The day she came to admire… Her own reflection… Upon the water
Orphaned… Off the coastline… Drenched by her tears… Longing to be caressed
This sea born star… Did spot the anchored stone… And scribbled upon it… She did read
“Teach me to listen to the song of the earth”
And with her sweetly whispered words… And observations
She did

I used a lot of ellipsis... for pauses while reading... I was going to record me reading this out loud but my Shakespearean orating skills were severely lacking :)

Just read this in your best Shakespearean voice and you will have the desired affect lol

Many depths and layers in this one...
