Wannabe poet/writer Writers are alchemists, turning mere words into gold, weaving tapestries of imagination. Whether etching sonnets or code, the love of writing is a compass, guiding us through the labyrinth of existence. It whispers, “You are here; you matter.” And so, we write—because within these sentences, we discover echoes of our own souls. My love of writing started in high school. My problem is I’m never satisfied and always too critical of myself to ever let anyone read my musings. And when I would win an award in high school, I would be so embarrassed that I would do anything I could to disguise my works or just avoid everyone, hahaha. Recently I went to a high school reunion and low and behold, someone had one of my short stories and a couple poems out on a table with other students works that had been written in 1973 and 1974. And when I re-read them I was amazed at myself. Then somehow my older sister came across some of my poems and said she wanted them and praised me again. I don’t know what has changed other than just getting older and not caring one iota any more about what people think or say. It’s therapy for me to jot down words that mean something at the time, and if someone reading them happens to identify then all the better… and yes, I have a severe inferiority complex.

I am 20. I write to express the ways i feel. I write to show how I see things. I write out of inspiration. I write to write.

I am a 27-year-old Christian (the modern term for Follower of the Way). Some bands that I've drawn inspiration from include Demon Hunter, Skillet, Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, All That Remains and War of Ages. I write lyrical poems, which I have been writing since I was 12 years old. A lot of my lyrics are based on life views and experiences, as well as struggles regarding my Christian faith. Love is the essence of pure thought. There is nowhere that this thought is not. I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma, just beyond the outskirts of several gypsum plateaus, miles of desert sand and vast horizons. I would go out into fields of sunflowers with my pen and paper, watching the currents of wind moving through miles and miles of wheat to write about the lucid imagery I would see when I closed my eyes, the experiences of coming out in a conservative community and finding my way as an artist in a place that did not nurture the arts. Words have always been my primary way to sort out my experiences into streams of consciousness that act as a form of self-discovery. Called by the overwhelming pull to follow my dreams, I relocated to the Catskills to follow my passions and put every idea into motion. I am currently working on several video projects, performances in several venues, live music, Sparkle Poetic radio ads, and many new things that you can keep up with on my website below. I was born with verse in my blood. I was raised with poetry mixed in with my mother's milk. We were immersed in poetry from our school days; we were taught to read it, appreciate it, glean wisdom from it, knew all the poets of old by heart...Ironcally, in my culture, writing poetry is the high art and privilege of men seasoned by age and gifted by Creator with this rare talent; it was not for the young to 'fool around' with, so we were not taught or encouraged to express ourselves through verse. So I never knew I had it... It was in my young adulthood that I started to feel the Song of the heart stirring in me. A friend shared with me his poetry, showed me that we all have the capability, if only we tune into ourselves and listen. The first few tentative poems were born from under my pen. Then life happened, I tuned out, forgot that part of myself, shut the door on it for more than a decade. I do not know what prompted for my Song to resurface, one day it just started pouring out of me, but I am grateful for the reawakening of that part of my soul that I'd given up for lost, as well as for the people around me who fuel my inspiration. Whether intentionally or not, they keep the fire burning. An enormous Thank You to all of you for reading, commenting, sharing and inspiring. This is a wonderful and nurturing community for all aspiring poets. Prose is the language of the mind, poetry is the language of the soul.

I love to write poems. It helps me to put down my feelings and I guess it's a way of venting. I have 2 sons, Jeff & Gary my grandson Josh & granddaughter Caitlin & my baby boy Rocky a ( Shih Tzu). I am so very pleased to say my son Gary and Jen are now husband and wife. They were married on 8/16/15. Such a beautiful Wedding and a most Wonderful Couple who Love each other very much. The best part is from this union I have 2 more grandsons Dillon and Colton, 3 beautiful granddaughters Samy (Samantha), Bella Mia and Addy (Addison) and 2 great grandsons Domy and Austin. This marriage means so very much to me. My daughter in law Jenny has raised her granddaughter Bella since she was 5 days old. She adopted her and her name is Bella Mia (2 years old). She is beautiful like her name. Together my son Gary and Jen will be adopting Bella's half sister Addy (5 years old). Jenny has been fighting to adopt Addy for more than 2 years. Addy has been awarded into the custody of Jenny and Gary. She will be flying home with Jenny on 8/28/15 from Florida to her "FOREVER HOME". In 90 days they will be allowed to adopt Addy. So both Bella and Addy are also my granddaughters. I am so very Happy. I now have a very large and loving family. I have written poems about Addy, and I want to Thank those of you who helped me pray for her to become family. Such a wonderful miracle has been witnessed. She is family now and she is beautiful. I love my daughter in law as she is a wonderful person, a fantastic Mom and a wonderful wife to my son. My son Jeffrey is my Hero. He's an upstanding guy, Honest and true. I'm so proud of him. I love to write. It's as simple a fact as that. In third grade I checked out a large book of poetry and wasn't able to go back from there. Writing poetry became the outlet of the heartache of a young girl as boys broke her fragile heart. Then my "brocuz" killed himself and all those words that I had written previously felt empty. I had changed, and so my poetry changed. Writing is an expression of myself. Whether imagined or real every poem I write, every story, every word, is filled with who I am, and how I got to be who I am. Enjoy :)

The Split Man sculpture represents the mental state of the dysfunctional human (here represented as a 30 year old). My name is Victoria Rachelle and I'm 15 years old. Poetry is a way to get rid of the pain i feel inside my heart every day. It understands me and does not judge me. I can rely on it to always be there for me when i have no one else. Yes, my poetry may be a little dark but it only shows what and how i honestly feel inside. I was made an older sister when i turned 3. My parents divorced when i was 6. I used to cut my wrists when things got bad(started at age 10). My giving name is Samer i am a personal social visionary ,a self starter inventive business man. intuitive lucrative an crafty. systematically acting rationally,too respectful & very selective individual, I'm also ridiculed for being original, I got charisma no one can copy, yet with a potty mouth I have no proxy! Im sometimes seductive and foxy, never called a softy yet talkative enough to talk a court into a mockery, yet I completed competition to create A monopoly. I have faster self-control like a master. Patience similar to a burning candle! Not demanding with sincere actions but like a ninja I don't like to much attention if that's the case I'm creating a distracting for my quick extracting,I'm speedy with quick reaction when others Are harassing bit of a jokester, but yet a true leader!! I've always put my deepest thoughts into poetry. If it wasn't written down, I did it in my mind. A profound line that sticks with you and reminds you of lessons learned and emotions felt. I had the misfortune of being in a domestically violent relationship in my early 20's and to heal I used it as my muse for my poetry. I now use poetry to heal, grow and evolve. I'm very right-brained and use it as my creative outlet to maintain balance in my life. I write mostly about love lost as that is what gets me to my core. It humbles me and reminds me how much I love giving and receiving love. I know many can relate to a broken heart and that is what connects us. If anyone reads my poetry, whether about heartache or abuse and relates to it, that means we've made a connection. We've bonded and are reminded that we are not alone. If I can do that to just one person with my poetry, then I feel I've made the world a better place. I am a very passionate winsome lad,my name is Vusumzi Mathews Sono born in the year of 1989 the 28th of December and I was born here in South Africa at a place called Cape Town,grew up in Eastern Cape.Vusi is a nickname coming from my full name Vusumzi and Oulik is just a nickname given by friends it is a Afrikaans name and it means "cute" .I never knew that one day I would be enthusiastic about poetry,but I loved writting since primary school,but then we used to just write songs that didn't even make sense but because I've never had an easy life as a child so I took out my emotions on writing as I was writing I noticed that everything I wrote was just poetic even at school when we were suppose to do orals,presentations or just anything I ended up flowing poetically,then that is when I found my first love "POETRY" inspired by roman ancient movies and some of Celine Dion's songs e.g the titanic song.

I have had a hard life, music and poetry have always been my out to get away from the world. I have been writing since i was twelve. I didn't realize my talent until freshman year of high school when my teacher suggested that i enter in a contest. My favorite form of poetry is Romanticism. My favorite poets are Longfellow, Poe, and Frost. My favorite novelist is Stephen King. I have a passion for nature and black and white movies. I would love to be a writer, however, I am study to become a special needs teacher.
