Champagne Dream

Lying wide awake in bed
Carbonate whirlpools fill my head.
A fizzing frenzy of swirling thought
Dispelling answers I once sought...

My eyes, alive with scattered spark
By themselves illuminate the dark.
Kaleidoscope visions of gold and blue
Place dancing fantasies in my view.

Heart, pounding hard in my chest
While all my body seeks is rest.
I inhale slowly the blessings to come
And gently exhale the day that’s done.

Memories floating through the night
Like a firefly fluttering just out of sight.
My ears, still ringing as it may seem,
Catch quiet whispers of a champagne dream...

(2013)

The main idea for this piece came to me late one night while lying wide-awake in bed. I get some of my best ideas while lying in bed unable to sleep. It's as if the chaotic thoughts of the day quiet down just enough for me to hear the deeper internal thoughts. Often times I'll get a sudden jolt of inspiration and have to get up and turn the laptop on. For me, sleepless nights are actually pretty good...

i think this is my favorite. It brings me back....

I'm officially flattered:) Thanks for checking out my work, I value your opinion. This one might be my favorite as well.

You definitely have a talent, I've pretty much liked everything I've read of yours. Trust me that is rare.

Wow, I'm flattered Danny, thank you!!! I love to write, and I love to "feel." I'm such a hopeless poet/romantic. ;) I just found out that this one is gonna be published, I'm so excited!

This one is going to be published in a book of poems! My first published piece ever! YAY!!!

That is amazing, I'm happy for you congrats! Slightly jealous ;), but super stoked! Good luck on all your future endevours.

Wow! I love this one so much. I love the feeling of the way the words were put together, I love the imagery and the flow of this. Amazing job! Did you write this one from free flowing thoughts?

I'm delighted and humbled by your review, Julia... This is probably the third poem I had ever written. Indeed, the verses for this one flowed from me like water from an open spicket, almost as if the words were channeled from someplace else rather than contemplated in my head... I've never told anyone that last bit of info for fear they wouldn't understand... I s'pose there's a first time for everything. 8^)
