Driving through the small towns
of America,
children of all colors playing
in the streets,
some with tattered clothes
and not much to eat.
Everyone deserves a better life.
A third world thrives
in pockets of this land,
stretches of silent sand
and rolling tumbleweed.
Everyone deserves a better life.
The rich get richer,
my heart grows sicker.
Many have died for the sight
of freedom.
Everyone deserves a better life.
