Before I'm Gone

Before I’m gone, I wonder, will there anybody know?
Will somewhere, someone realize, that I’m here, before I go?
That my heart did dare to speak, but can no one hear today?
While I’m here, before I’m gone, that I’ve something, now to say?

For the few that I did meet, all I had, I gladly shared.
All I ask, now in return, is to know that someone cared.
Fame and fortune, I’ve no need, I don’t want, to be flattered.
My sole wish, before I’m gone, to simply know, I mattered.

Many dreams had I, unrealized, perhaps never meant to be?
To others might seem silly, still they meant the world to me.
I’ve a new dream now to follow, I hope this one to see thru.
Perhaps then, before I’m gone, of me, you’ll speak fondly too!

I’m William “Greg”ory Tice, the third son of my mother.
I’m a man, of humble means, a son, a dad, a brother.
I don’t wish to educate, or obstruct the path you’re on.
But to leave my “fingerprints”, on your heart, before I’m gone.
