Quicksand

"Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity."
~ Psalm 141:9 (KJV)

Careless, he stepped on quicksand
And sank slowly, precipitously
Distressed, he stretched out his hand
But sadly, grabbed on to thin air only
Terrified, with all that he could command
He screamed loudly and frantically

Till at last, help came
But fear in his heart still aflame

Pitfalls, life’s journey is full of hazards
We’d tumble and fall, if we’re unmindful
Deceivers, false prophets, witches, wizards
They’ll make life miserable, ourselves fearful
Evil trolls, watch out for them! be on guard
Beware of quicksand, and its downward pull

But our Comforter will always be here
To keep us safe from the devil’s snare...

A nine-year-old poem I uncovered in one of my file folders yesterday. Unsatisfied, I did minor revisions and decided to post it. (I have a folder full of 2015 poems that I am not happy with but I'm in process of revising) Hopefully y'all like it.

...and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will. 2 Timothy 2:26 NKJV
