October Magic

“There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on the feelings, as now in October.”
— Nathaniel Hawthorne

The magic of October
In full colorful display
More pleasant temperatures
To welcome the break of day
Evenings be cool and balmy
For autumn breeze here to stay
Farewell, dog days of summer
Winter frost so far away

Sweet musky scents come with fall
Brisk crisp slightly sharp fruity
Earthy enchanting autumn
Great aroma therapy
Perfect scents for cool evenings
Or morning mugs of coffee
Pumpkin spice and cinnamon
Apple tarts with cups of tea

Trees shedding their verdant robes
To don fall’s resplendent glow
Luxuriant forests in bloom
Red purple orange yellow
Every leaf’s fairest flower
The woods a magical show
Fewer scenes are lovelier
Up above and here below

Undulating amber fields
Ablaze in the mid-day sun
The crops freshly harvested
Red barns full; farm work been done
Bales of hay for miles and miles
Reminders that summer’s gone
The pumpkin patch plentiful
Waiting for pickers since dawn

Cornucopia of blessings
Pecan apple cherry pies
It’s time for celebration
A glass of cider the prize
Autumn, season to give thanks
For life and all of the spice
The unexpected pleasures
Fall, the taste of paradise

The magic of October
In full colorful display
May we have cool autumn nights
Yearlong, each and every day
May we have pleasant mornings
With azure skies never gray
May we sleep all through winter
And wake up middle of May!
