Mighty Hypnos

“Your brain needs plenty of rest to function at it's optimal level. Go to sleep!”
Lalah Delia

She’s waiting for tomorrow
Hopeful, better it will be
Today was a real challenge
For her emotions, mostly
In truth she hurts all over
Though bruises no one will see
Darts and arrows have pierced her
Visible marks there’s nary
But restful sleep all she needs
Perchance a sweet reverie
Today’s events she’ll forget
Be a distant memory
Hypnos’ curative powers
Bring forth happy waking hours

The night did not disappoint
She awoke bright, worry free
Rested refreshed and recharged
Sun rising above the lea
Challenges seem far away
Swept with yesterday’s debris
The sky’s bright robin’s egg blue
The heavens gush o’er with glee
Bloom hugged by a butterfly
Flow’r kissed by a honeybee
A marvelous day indeed
More pleasant it couldn’t be
Hypnos’ curative powers
Are life’s refreshing showers

Mighty Hypnos god of sleep
May our slumbers always deep
In dreams, the impossible
Merge with the improbable
To soothe our much troubled minds
And leave our problems behind.

“So many fear death—spending their precious waking hours discussing it—while failing to notice that deep sleep is no different. It’s as if they don’t hear Mother Nature telling them not to worry every day.”
Anthony Marais, Delusionism
