His face was ashen,
Frozen by the sight he’d seen—
Taunting grinning clown
Heart pounding, he turned to flee,
Feeling gutless misery
Long ago mem’ries
When just a young lad he was
Of a clown, scared stiff
Lurking deep within his mind
Fear and shadows intertwined
Present, fast forward
Now fully grown, a father,
With two lively sons
Both obsessed with laughing clowns;
His fear cloaked by shaky frowns
Must conquer his fears,
Put to rest childhood trauma;
It’s time that he did
Fears are shadows of the past
But their grip can’t always last
No need to carry
The horrors of yesterday
Towards tomorrow
Tragedies are heavy chains
Meant to break, not to remain
The clown fades into the mist,
No more fears to coexist
His sons laugh; their joy takes flight,
He walks free into the night
