Superficial

I came back to an empty home
Filled with unwanted love
And those who happily sold it
It burns more,
truly knowing through memories,
The taste of longing and desire

To drink from a silver cup,
Yet poorer than before
I poured my cup into those
Who did not fill me
And now I am completely empty

And nobody may fill me,
I lived truly alone,
Unaware as love passed me by
To live for others is my only solace
So that my smile may seem alive
But you can see it in my eyes
Please keep that between you and I

I understand now,
Money buys momentary happiness
But not what makes us human,
Id rather eat from a wooden spoon
Than live this superficial life
