Let Go

A thought train about Materialism & Idolatry

Our idols wear tricky costumes and our peers promote purposeless possessions and projects while our promiscuous pursuits permeate from pathetic powers lacking the passionate presence we were Paternally promised. Please promote positive purpose with pure persuasion and not perversion. The pervasive nature of our proselytized piety proudly professes poor prayers for personal provisions in lieu of protecting those predestined for poverty, pestilence, or panting for potations. In short, our focuses have been derailed and it is beyond time to get on track. Lay down your arms and idols and start living simply so that others might simply live.

The things you boast about are not impressive. Materialism is not a blessing. It is a curse. It dampens your heart-thought process and poisons the well of love with bitterness, envy, and lust. Wave your banners over piles of trash, claim them in the name of God, but they will still continue to be piles of rubbish. Your actions are the verbs of your heart. What you treasure, worry about, and obsess over is what you truly worship. Be wary. Live lightly.

I'm looking through old journal entries and stumbled across this little ditty from September 2007. I still feel the same way.
