Roderick Watson Kerr

Hooge

The moon—frozen eye—
Stares down stupidly,
And the wind licks
A few bare sticks,
Once trees:

And near the craters on the ground
Where the road winds round
Like wounded snake,
One sees
A painted wooden stake!
