Water Water

Water water, where did you go?
along thy plotted course or to and fro?
up to or beyond the distant seascape?
hiding beneath the devil’s sprawling cape?

inside the needles of the voodoo doll?
working ardently to answer the call?
inside the venom of the serpentine rivers?
and where it flows as the body quivers?

inside the heat of the all consuming fires?
when all humanity succumbed in the pyres?
working outside of divinity’s ancient plan?
when the spirit of life took form and began?

hiding beneath the sea where water stakes claim?
under the sunken ships where the demons reign?
inside Davy Jones locker in the netherworld?
mingling with the she-devils in the underworld?

then rising up to tease the common man?
in response to his wishes and demand?
but running away when it gets too close?
feeling its presence with his hopes engrossed?

Water water, spread thy grace for evermore.
Come out of hiding and to our distant shore.
Put out the raging fires that the devil set
and make the clouds rumble and sweat.
For this ye shall return to the grace of God.

Here in the northeast, we haven't had a good rainfall since September.
