The Undying

As the last breath looms ahead awaiting,
Life and the living in the now abating,
They find refuge from the foreboding snows
Away from the cold as the north wind blows.
Creatures fight off the pangs of winter-tide
With nature’s armor and will to go inside.

As it did in the beginning and still today,
The last breath drew near but stayed away.
The undying lived to find the rites of spring
Where the lively brooks and the zephyrs sing,
And the greenery comes to life aside the hills
For the coming out of the yellow daffodils.
