Caricamento in corso...
Old Man with Beard, by Rembrandt
Robert L. Martin

The Greatest Work

The greatest work
ever written,
a tome of a million words
trimmed down to a few
with the strength to
tell the same story,

words with air to breathe,
to sprouts wings to
carry us to another place,
that lift us up
and take us
wherever it goes,
into deep forests,
into the silent night,
circling around the stars,
opening our eyes
to the universe
and our hearts to the
divine secrets,

words with a motion
that climb inside and
ride up and down the spine,
that encircle the heart
and pour more love into it,
that speak to the divinity
in the soul and lift us
up to our dignified self.

The greatest work
yet to be written,
the shortest story,
the heaviest words
that can sprout wings
and float on the air.
