The Conquest

The Conquest

She’s so sweet, so pure, so white
Like a virgin blowing kisses through the sunlight
Come darkness her cringing mystery unfolds
She can’t find shelter among darkened roads

‘Tis at night when devils come to speak
Of love’s defilement, of passion’s peak
Her girded life comes out into view
Of chastity weakened by purity’s taboo

He charges at her like a wild goaded steed
Disregarding sanctity’s ceremonial creed
Her angelic life is now pleasure’s paradise
Where skaters skate on over trodden ice

She sobs on her rumpled bed at night
From one more conquest for the devil’s delight
Love’s nobility shaken by blinded fury
He’s of the kind, of forsaken chivalry
She’s of the kind, weakened by its demands
