Spiritual Retentions

Sunday moved into Monday like a well oiled machine with precision and clarity.  The age of time had lost one more day, and the power of the sun lost some of its stronghold with the end of summer looming ahead.  The chronicles of time into days into seasons into centuries remain constant and predictable like the oceans and their tides.
The spiritual feeling stayed in the soul as the Sunday morning sermon was delivered.  The word of God caressed our hearts and cleared the way to heaven and all that is saintly and kind.  After the sermon, we looked around with a new reverence toward our neighbors and life in general.  His word settled in our souls and waited upon our constant nurturing to keep it alive.
But as Sunday moved into Monday with precision and strength, his word within us lost some of its influence as we moved ahead with uncertainty.  As each day passes, we grow more mundane until we are rescued by our once a week worship service again.
Our daily life is our temple and our religion.  The word of God is our guiding force that clings to our souls and directs our deeds and actions.  Worshiping is not a window to open and shut once a week, but an eternal opening that offers its hospitality to us to view what is sacred and free.
Sunday morning is a reminder of how we should be conducting ourselves every day of the week and why we should try to hold onto that spiritual message as long as we can.  With our constant nurturing, we can do it.
