Shifting Shadows

Shifting shadows splash across the walls
from early morn until the sun so laden falls,
inching its way over protruding objects,
forming artistic patterns as the light projects,

bringing to mind images of the history of the Earth
when there was light on that first day of birth,
as it took form and spread across the terrain,
and when the clouds assembled and so the rain.

We see the eternal plan of life as it unfolds.
We can imagine the sun dancing over the knolls,
the waterfalls cascading down the hills
and the thunder and lightning and all the thrills.

We can see the Earth on its gradual spiral,
its easy going days and tumultuous peril.
We can hear it crying through all the wars
and the aftermath as the human spirit soars.

As the evening comes, we see the fading light
when all the shadows succumb to the night.
Then we can see the images in our dreams
as the sun and shadows depart from the scenes.
