Paternal Obligations

Father’s Day up ahead,
The time it is to give back unsaid.
No rules written, just love obliged,
As fathers give all they can provide.
For what they did for you to receive,
All the education and more to achieve.

It’s because of his paternal obligation
You live in a home on a solid foundation.
You could be outside in the freezing cold
Risking your life for a lump of coal.
Since he is a man carved out of stone,
He chose to keep you inside your home.

This was written for the Belt and Beyond for the Father's Day issue.
