My Truth Embellished

I was brought forth through my mother’s womb
as God prepared my home in heaven’s room,
my habitat of pure waters and hallowed springs,
deeply entrenched in truth and what it brings.

And life makes me a child of persistent wonder
as I choose the right road and also blunder,
following the truth and my interpretation of truth
in my reminiscence of the days of my probing youth.

Through trials and tribulations, I found my way,
and the truth set me free and let me sway
as I became a poet with permission to embellish
and embrace every word as if it were a kiss.

My mind is settled in half truth and half fantasy.
I walk on the ground and walk upon the sea.
The words take me to unfamiliar islands
and make me a dweller living among the sands.

Then I invent new trees from the indigenous trees
and keep on inventing until the fires freeze.
Then I stop after my last breath is gone away
but maybe after when my spirit begins to play
as I become an immortal poet of the hereafter
with many stories to tell in rhymes and laughter.

So here I am with many days ahead
with fantasy swirling around my head,
and truth forgotten but truth kept in mind,
gathering up words and all else that I could find.

I am satisfied of what I am and what I did;
poured the words inside up and up to the lid.
So this is my testimony, my life as a poet.
