A farm in Saint-Martin-Du-Bon-Fosse, near Saint-Lô, by Jean Baptiste Camille Corot

Gowns of the Maples

Gowns of the Maple trees in emerald green,
in summer’s garb and sunshine gleam,
in proud display post springtime’s end,
keeping up with fashion’s latest  trend,
Maples dress up for summer’s ball,
flaunting them in front of those enthralled,
waltzing through the day and into the night,
twirling and twirling with no end in sight
until Autumn closes the door to the gala
with a tint of brown from its eager palette.

No more green colored gowns 'til next year
when the Maples dress up when summer’s near.
