Fire Falling

Lo behold a fire ball falling in the west
From a hard day’s journey for a night of rest.

Will it hit the earth with a resounding boom?
Will it shake up the sky and heaven’s room?

Will it miss the ground and land in the ocean?
Will it come to rest and cease all motion?

Will it come again to warm my frozen feet?
Will the fire rekindle and throw off some heat?

Does it have eyes that can see me weeping?
Does it have enough love for its keeping?

Is it a fire that burns from heaven’s mouth?
Is it a fire kindled from the sacred house?

Is it an eternal fire that eases all apprehensions?
After ascending, what are its returning intentions?

Please come back Father Sun, and
Shed your fire upon my new day again;
If I will ever have another one.
