Sunrise, by T. C. Steele

Copper Sun

Copper sun sitting
in the eastern skies
upon its fiery chariot
with a team of spirited horses
prancing and dancing
and chomping at the bit,
parting the thick clouds with
it’s stalwart colossal hands,
peaking out into
the waning night,
surveying it’s ensuing trek
across the untested firmament,
flexing it’s muscles
and singing the hymn
of the warriors,
lighting up its torches,
stepping out into the
forbidding rough,
the land of the
nocturnal specters,
the hands that
reach out from the graves
and snatch up
everything in its path
and take them down
into the cold earth.

“Be brave copper sun.
Be prepared. Be sure.
God be with you
on your journey ”
