The sound of fun permeates the air,
The sound of the calliope at the fair,
That familiar sound and nothing other,
Than the call to the carousel to incur,
What is a carnival without that sound,
That familiar music whirling all around?
With children laughing and riding atop
Bright colored horses until they drop.
And suitors out on their very first date,
Showing off their skills at the shooting arcade,
Then riding high up on the Ferris wheel,
On top of the world that doesn’t seem real,
Summertime, summertime, summertime,
Come to the carnival and get in line.
