The sounds of summer
crackling embers
and a splash followed by a gasp
Mouths are bitter
Can barely remember winter
Only half the days are taken to task
The sun is high
Sitting through the tides
The sunlight always seems to last
Feel the skin turn red
The ground is a bed
Days of sweat and shorts go too fast
The meat juice sizzles
Faces frown at drizzle
The future is the same as the past
