Applause in the Senate
At the confirmation
Of her nomination
To serve our nation
There was celebration
And righteous jubilation
At America’s forward movement.
There was also abdication
A shameful desk vacation
A haunting validation
Of continued separation
Of the part of our nation
That does not seek improvement.
Ketanji Brown Jackson's Senate confirmation was a historic moment of progress for this nation. Regrettably, a sizable portion of the Senate did not share in the moment.
