French Quarter
a birthday trinity cake
a feast of life and laughter
Durham once
twice New Orleans
continual with family
with travel friends
a celebration cake remarkable
life and laughter birthday trinity
hallowed streets
of the French Quarter
street music covers outstanding jazz greats
revenants out their graves... people .... dancing
around every historic corner
musical notes radiating from within
floating across the four cardinal points
sanctus winds drifting over French Quarter hallowed streets
Merlin and l walked danced
with the Saints all week
partaking seafood okra gumbo
ghosts around levitating in gayest white
auras of gray
October gypsies in fall color frocks
parade frolicking
god of the wild and rustic music Pan
piping baroque rococo tunes
the nine muses hands grasping circle dance
from the tenth muse Sappho’s inspirational lyrical notes of love and aspirations
hovering like halos of hope and pearl tears
over streets of gothic scenes across
labyrinth of fortune tellers... artists
tarot card readers at cathedral square
Merlin and I dancing the ambiance
tracing through my heart the voodoo’s path
all like minded travelers of the eerie lore
spirits trails
the withches in their avatar familiars...
wanderers of French Quarter dark alleys
eerie voodoo netherworld abodes
hollow manors clothed
in hair raising Dante’s inferno skin
spooky spine– chilling nightmares
bloodied balconies darkened windows
flags of memento mori skulls
ghostly dreadfully frightening
roofs and front yards red splattered
blocks after blocks freakishly creepy
centuries old houses this season now
hades dens
eerie voodoo netherworld abodes
into spirit phantoms of the abyss
ghoulish streets purplish shades
zombies zigzag dance drunken like into
a marching funeral masquerade
as the sun sets to a Bloody Mary sky
marching goblins horned draculas
sashaying
hooters and medusas treat tricking draped
in garish colors on Bourbon Street outward
along the Mississippi River esplanade
a pumpkin twilight of strange whizzing
river wave
as the setting crooked eyes of Helios
diffuse light sparkle the dark purple river
cascading into rock crimson shore of
meditative lovers
absorbing into dusk with the roaring
raucous train howling from nowhere
shrieking screeching into town to the dusk
sky
with cargoes of ghosts all anxious to burst
out
from front black iron scallops engine
to splattered red caboose trailing tail
a pain steep cry is heard of a dying three
legged red wolf
heard cut across all French Quarter
in the holy streets of the saints made
fairy like magical goblins shiftshape
to ghouls blue flesh flash each street side
as wheels of color beads and sweet treats
thrown scattered
to screaming grabbers in orange glow in
dark attires
like a dark pumpkin bloodshot gory eyes
lantern stare deep
into spirit phantoms of the abyss
Saints feasting dancing to wee hours morn
how I wish to meet again with friends
with voodoo-like interests minds share
beignets
over espresso in cafe du monde
here in the holy streets of the Saints
in the wee hours morn
it is a no myth ghosts town
Merlin casts a spell of a glorious Halloween
for friends and I a crimson black lighted
carpeted space
streets of the hallows and the hollows
a Jack-o’-lantern event for my centennial
barring a shouldered coffin jazz funeral
for me
with strange lights flickering over
from sex hungry fireflies calling mates
to eternal life
echo down to phantoms of the abyss
truly a phenomenon look-forward-to event
again for Merlin and i to partake with Queen Marie Antoinette
straight from her heart offering...
the infamous guillotine cake for the
season’s festivities
here in French Quarter in glorious pumpkin New Orleans– a no myth ghosts town
