Asymptotic
Were emotions linear
could they intersect?
Could rage co-exist with elation?
If ever you could feel them both
at the same time
Would you be a rock in a raging river?
White water surging around you, the ultimate sociopath
Were feelings linear
They could not intersect
Rage would approach but not touch
Elation with all its festive trappings
But what an asymptotic
near encounter it would be
Boiling anger impinging on uplifting joy
Roiling, surging until finally only one is left
Sadly turmoil will very often overcome calmness
Flowing water turns turbulent faster than the reverse
A heart big enough to hold both rage and elation
at the same time, and do justice to both,
In equal measures, is yet to be discovered.
Asymptotic it will ever be
