I saw you last night, just as you were
that last time we met,
everything of you the same
me, I was now but back there then,
all that emotion, all that pain and heartache
when I looked in your eyes it just melted away,
we were locked in an episode playing in my sleeping brain
we were together again even if only in a dream,
it seemed that you weren’t aware
all those years had gone and passed,
as we sat there laughing and talking
it all came flowing back,
all that love and raw desire
all that pain upon its end,
how it crippled me inside
and how I still hold high, in laments, your name,
but here we were
you telling me things could be different,
how you wanted another chance
and how this time we could make it work,
and in my mind I knew it wasn’t real
though in my heart I didn’t care,
that you were only in a dream
and you were never really there,
