a compliant branch

Panoramic sin

The sacrificial lamb of daily drudgery
Can cheat death at will, though never lives
With corduroy eyelids that keep out the sun
And ears full of lies and deceit
With no one to hear him or notice his tears
Though, the audience are held in his gaze
He realises all too late about life
There’s only hollow comfort in praise

A self made hell, a black and white tomb
Holding out all that’s coloured brightly
Envelopes written without compunction
A sad song to remember him, a ulogy
A taut rope and a compliant branch
The weight of a this mans life can be measured
No fear, no regrets and no one to intervene
One last look at the world without rest

Don’t cut me down, let me rot and stagnate
Let me fester in death as in life
Let me feed the eyes that wish to consume me
And be all that others wish to despise
Let my corpse hang and spin around, freely
And devour a fast vision of panoramic sin
Life and death are twins, one coin
They’ll both tear you in two again and again and again

A poem about a mans plan to end his life, though secretly hoping for a reason not to.
