O.C. Bearheart

Childhood

Coming to terms

I imagine flashing lights, they’re coming up behind me.
The sirens blare, the neon glare does nothing to remind me
Of my sins and of my failures.
All my heroes and my saviors
Are out there drowning, fading in the starlight.

I imagine solitude, it’s creeping through my bloodstream,
The long hours bring withered flowers.
Stale smells and hollow daydreams
Fill my room with malcontent
While my time is mostly spent
Drowning, and then fading in the starlight.

Lines unfinished, words unspoken
Lead to me being awoken
By the sights and smells of spring:
Life bursts full, the whole world sings
While I just sit here in my room
Imagining away my gloom
Yet there I go again into the starlight.
