Our Everlasting Catastrophe

I remember when we gave it everything we had to achieve a spark,
to start a chain reaction of memories that we thought were endless.

Say every tree was a memory,
and every leaf represented every time I thought about you.

Well there would be a forest.
And that spark eventually got bigger.
It was beautiful and we thought we could tame it.

I guess we were wrong because when I take the weights off from around my neck and remove the glue from in between my eyes and the ground
I see the remains of a forest fire.
And if matter can neither be created or destroyed,
then this ash,
this catastrophe,
is going to be here for awhile.

To you.
