A Sense of Loss

The phone is ringing,
The caller is known,
But his voice is not understandable,
My heart is pacing faster,
As I learn of an earlier disaster,
Tears begin to form,
My emotions begin to fail,
As I hear each and every detail,
I rise to my feet,
As I begin to act on a request for help,
I think; stay calm and cool,
As I race to achieve a desperate request,
For me now, I must do my best,
I begin to act and thoughts race ahead,
Thinking of what I need to do instead,
Emotions are in a state of uncontrol,
The bad news has taken its toll,
Racing towards the door,
Driving to get the help asked for,
No one home, now I feel I am in a bind,
Now another phone number I must find,
Nervously, I search for someone else to call,
For there is no way I can do it all,
But quickly the bad news is disseminated,
Everyone begins to gather,
Now flow the tears and expressions of great loss,
Each recalling memories of what once was,
Everyone is helpless to accommodate,
As we individually pray for each other,
For we are all together now, brother with brother,
Sister with sister, daughters with mother,
Friends and family now gather to share the loss,
What we knew, present and past,
What is and was.
Wild emotions slowing down,
Tears are lightly falling,
The pain is subsiding.
What remains is a sense of loss.

Sorr0w and Sadness are two most difficult things to experience, the loss of young person is so tragic, at times we are faced with something we cannot comprehend.
