Since my words hit the page

Since I had something to say

It’s been a while

Since I’ve touched his face

8 whole months ago

To my future self

I mentioned his name

Not once, but twice

And the doodled hearts

Nearly broke me

It’s been a while

Since I’ve been that girl

Since he was my world

It’s been a while

Since I was so naive

Since all the lies I believed

But in that time

I’ve found the fingers

Between which

mine fit perfectly

He keeps me together

And it feels so right

Now he has my heart

And I just hope he doesn’t break it
