If ever

To my sweet wife Jeanette

If Ever
By James M Riley

If ever a man loved a woman, {me}
If ever a woman loved a man, {thee}
If ever two were one, {we}
If ever a love were true you see,
Our love will last through eternity
If ever two hearts in destiny join,
A gift from above he made us both one
If ever life turns joy into pain,
Our souls come together and count it as gain
If ever in death our love rest in slumber,
I know on his promise my love, we shall ponder
One morning so grand we’ll wake over younder,
When christ takes our hand and says there’s no wonder,
What I have joined together you can’t put asunder
If ever my choices in life I regret,
Im glad god gave me my wife, my jeanette

And a man shall leave his father and mother and take his wife and they two shall become one flesh.
