I’m on a journey
To become more
More than flesh and bones, muscles and ligaments, hair follicles and blue eyes
I’m on a mission
To make sure that I leave this world better than the way I found it
Even better than Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy make it
I’m on a long and righteous uphill climb
To make sure that love is not laughed at or mocked
Kicked or beaten
I’m on a quest
To be the best man that I can be
I’m on an expedition
And I’ve come to realize that I can’t make it alone
On my own I am nothing but a lost soul in a desert
Left to die by the naysayers
Pecked at by the crows
My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?
But am I the forsaken
Or the one forsaking
Have I lost my true self?
In the muck and mile
The calamity of earth
Should our paths cross
If you find me
Will you free me from this gravity
