when (finally) we meet

when (finally)
we meet
I’m thinking
spring wildflowers
will bloom on high
desert plains
and stars we thought
weren’t anywhere
near their epic final act
will supernova. the moon
may turn
upside down
or suddenly start
spinning. (it could
get messy)
even hours before
we’ve admitted
what we are
to each other
or sealed anything
with a kiss, (which
we are also made
whole beyond happiness
all at once by) we’ll see
the honeybees back, and birds
turning back into dinosaurs.
everybody gets one.
they won’t bite.
wars and other words
for murder will vanish, in fact
nations won’t do anything
we wouldn’t, as the people in them
will suddenly only remember
how obvious, and yet
impossibly new love always is,
again. how it trumps easily
everything else and is
the only thing that changes us
into anything ever
worth being.
this love will be
a warm rain
for dancing in
falling everywhere
at once.
when we
meet, (finally)
dogs will dance.
even cats might.
dolphins almost certainly
already are, in anticipation.
I mean,
no love, possibly
ever, has waited
so lonely,
for so long,
to be.
everything (everywhere)
will celebrate
when (finally)
we meet.
