Winter Haikus
"A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water.”
— Carl Reiner
Sleet then freezing rain
Impassable roads highways
Perhaps many days
Fireplace roaring flames
Keeping warm the dreary room
In the wintry gloom
Atop the chimney
Thick smoke from burning firewood
Turned grey by the soot
Frigid wind howling
Ice crystals on window pane
Spinning weather vane
In frozen backyard
Fresh snow atop sheet of ice
Not one blade of grass
Tree branches burdened
By the weight of frozen rain
Broken by the strain
A desolate scene
The skies leaden overcast
How long will it last
Winter wonderland it ain’t
The dismal scene hardly quaint

2a@Nelson D Reyes Many thanks Brod. I read the Northeast gearing for another winter blast. With perhaps the coldest temperatures in a generation. How about you guys in North Carolina?

2aAlas, according to the ground hog, six more weeks of winter, Ugh!
Francis Aparici
2a@Barb Clarke Yes unfortunately. And as I said, the Northeast will be battered with sub-zero temps this weekend. Earlier this week Dallas had icestorms. Thanks for liking. 😊😊
