The dream came again
Cold winds whispered what he lost
Though he turned away
Still, society’s harsh grip
Would not let his heart be still
He stepped off the map
Left behind the life they praised
So-called “dignified”
Society’s voice grew faint
As he found his own restraint
A door stood ahead
Not approved nor pre-assigned
But it welcomed him
Not what others have chosen
His choice, nobody’s token
He asked not for praise
Just peace, walking without shame
Truth in every step
Not defiant, only free
Just the man he wants to be

13g@Barb Clarke: Yes, not easy to choose a different path. But as you say, rewards await. Thanks for liking

12gA thought provoking poem. Choosing a different path can sometimes lead to self discovery and growth.

12g@Francisco P.: You said it Brod. Or it could lead to isolation as well. Thank you Brod 😊😊
