Silent Tears

“There is a sacredness in tears. They are not a mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition and of unspeakable love.”
Washington Irving

Caressingly she touched his face
A pair of teardrops traced her cheeks
Soft words were hushed as she then speaks
She turned away from his embrace

Waves of grief as she walked away
Her broken heart sobs soft, suppressed
Through sorrow’s lens the world distressed
She left him standing by the quay

Behind dark clouds, the moon vanished
As if to share the pain she feels
The stars grew dimmer, the night reels
For the joy in her heart perished

Stoic, determined not to weep
She calmed her intense emotions
But inside, mighty explosions
A pain that cut her soul so deep

Her heart still aches, yet time will heal
Through quiet nights and whispered prayers
She’ll find her strength through all despair
And rise again, her wounds to seal
