Come, meet my shadow
Whenever whither I go
Always he’d follow
But dark nights he disappears
Leaving me with all my fears
Friend in fair weather
When the sun is bright he’s there
When dark a goner
Unreliable fellow
Still he’s my alter ego
But in darkest nights
When the moon deserts the sky
No stars I can spy
All I need, light a candle
There he appears, my angel

1yI think we can learn a lot about ourselves if we can face our shadow. Nice poem Francis.

7moExcellent, almost like the moon and the shadow might be in cahoots. The imagery is exquisite. The moon, our celestial companion, abandons us. Stars vanish, leaving us adrift. "All I need, light a candle / There he appears, my angel." I've had countless people in my life that mirror your poem. great work

7mo@Mark Sallee: Thank you Mark. For the great comments as well. And the insight I never thought of.
