The years had passed, yet here we sat
Our voices strong, our laughter bright
As if the past were clear in sight
No time could ever stifle that
We spoke of days so wild and free
Of mischief made, of races run
Of battles fought and lost—or won
Still bold in youthful memory
The echoes of our younger cheer
Returned with every jest retold
No thought of time, no fear of old
Just hearts that knew no yesteryear
And as we rose to part once more
Our steps were light, our spirits high
For though the years had hurried by
We left as boys, just as before
